Graduate Showreel 2018

Graduation Showreel 2018. Recent Graduate of the University of South wales, from the Film, Visual Effects & Motion Graphics course. Majoring in 2D compositing and clean up.

00:01 - 00:14 - Keith Barry-John, third year final major Project. In this shot I was responsible for cleaning up the barrel, bringing in the multipass renders for each shell, shuffling out the different passes and compositing them back together, plussing layered scratch textures through the specular passes, adding motion blur, animating the second shell, adding shadow and over all colour correction. All within Nuke.

00:14 - 00:24 Keith Barry-John, third year final major Project. In this shot I was responsible for tracking the in the clean plate and rotoscoping the body back on top to remove the box used as reference. Bringing in the multipass renders, shuffling out the different passes and compositing them back together. Plussing layered scratch textures through the diffuse passes, adding motion blur. Adding blood texture passes, adding blood on the shirt by luma keying the texture and colour correcting, and over all colour correction. All within Nuke.

00:24 - 00:34 - Keith Barry-John, third year final major Project. In this shot I was responsible for tracking in small fangs in the womans mouth. Rotoscoping and enhancing the fake blood on her chin. Creating a blood stain with the use of luma keying. All within Nuke.

00:34 - 00:39 - Keith Barry-John, third year final major Project. In this shot I was responsible for making and animating a moving gun barrel, cleaning up the jacket behind to remove the original static gun. Compositing in a muzzle flash, animating a shell casing and contact light. All within Nuke.

00:39 - 00:49 - Solum. Second year final major project. In this shot I was responsible for filming the plate. Keying with keylight within Nuke. Matte painting layers made within Photoshop using a combination of stock photos and my own. Matte painting layers were projected within 3D space where a 3D camera move was added in post. Entire project composited within Nuke.

00:50 - 00:54 - Solum. Second year final major project. In this shot I was responsible for filming the plate. Tracking in the asset built within After Effects & Photoshop. Luma Keying the shadows, hair and thumb back on top. Adding scratches and colour correcting & grading. All composited within Nuke.

00:54 - 00:57 - Baby & Diamond. Third year minor project. Responsible for filming the plate. Clean plate tracked in and colour corrected to match. Talent rotoscoped back on top. Shadow faked with masks and colour correction. All done within Nuke.

00:58 - 01:04 - Baby & Diamond. Third year minor project. Stock elements tracked in. Talent Luma Key'd and roto'd back on top. Masks used to reveal elements over time. All within Nuke.

01:05 - 01:09 - Choice. Two week group project. Part of a two week group project to have us work with other class members we wouldn't usually work with. Tasked with coming up with an idea, filming and completing post within two weeks to be reviewed by Andrew Whitehurst.

I was responsible for filming the plate. Using a combination of Luma keying and rotoscoping to serrate the talent from the windows but keeping all the detail around the window frames. Compositing in matte painting. All within Nuke.

01:10 - 01:15 - Choice. Two week group project. Responsible for filming the plate. Warping and compositing plates into sunglasses. Frame holding and painting out reflections of camera, then layer back on top for reflection. All within Nuke.

01:15 - 01:19 - Nadir. Music Video for client. Responsible for filming plate. Footage was 3D camera tracked. Clean plate made by painting near by pixel together and projected back on top. All within Nuke.
